The aim of the Institute for Triple Helix Innovation is to harness and leverage the complementary expertise of academia, industry and government to facilitate new systems for innovation and novel collaborative processes for creative development.

By serving as a center for collaboration technologies, a champion for flexible organizational structures, and an arbiter of triple helix best practices, the Institute endeavors to foster international, interdisciplinary collaborations amongst the public and private sectors and develop new methodologies for achieving economic and social benefit.

The Institute Welcomes Ray Culver as new Project Manager

Mr. Culver has held Project Manager positions in project management, marketing, technology training and financial analysis in the private sector for the past 12 years and is pursuing his Project Manager Professional (PMP) certification, the highest level of professional certification offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). With specializations in project planning, vendor management, intranet design, development, deployment and integration, Ray has led online banking, extensive network platform initiatives and web authoring projects. In addition, his experience with Bristol-Myers Squibb as a financial analyst involved in the Global Anti-Infectives product line and experience in their Worldwide Medicines Groups provides the Institute with background in global health from an industry perspective. His experience developing training materials at Motorola for technology training also adds to the Institute’s capabilities in presenting methodology in training packets and formats.

Canadian Initiatives fostering Cross-Sector Collaboration for Innovation

"Networks . . . are the hot spots where ideas collide and synergies are identified, hence the need for intermediaries who understand the innovation process and can create meeting places that attract people from the academy, business, and finance."

Two Canadian companies ahead of the curve are combining the resources and talent available in academic and industry fields. MaRS Discovery District helps to enhance the marketing potential of various universities and teaching hospitals while offering an opportunity for these educational facilities to interact with and aid smaller businesses. Sir Terence Matthews is in the process of independently bridging the gap between these sectors as well. Both companies are hoping to incorporate government support in the near future to expand upon their already widening opportunities.
