  ZeitBrite Correlative

What is the "Correlative Index"?
The Correlative Index is ZeitBrite's calculation of how actively a member is participating within the network, through feedback, making connections and sharing ideas. The Correlative Index allows you to see, at a glance, how active a member has been in the community. The index is influenced by items such as posts to Collaborative Blogs, uploads to FileSpot, Profile elaboration, number of colleagues, and so on.

What is a group?
A group in ZeitBrite is a set of people who organize around a common interest. Each group is given its own set of tools, called Better Together, for use within that group. Any ZeitBrite member can form a group.

What is a group organizer?
If you create a group, you are that group's organizer. The organizer is responsible for ensuring the group is a valuable resource to its members. The organizer elicits conversation, facilitates exchanges, and so forth. Group organizers are also granted administrative capabilities for that group - to edit the group settings and, if desired, to promote other members as co-organizers.

Who can invite others to a group? How do I join a group?
The organizer can configure the group in many different ways depending on the needs and intent of the group. Groups may be formed that allow any ZeitBrite member to join, without invitation. Groups may also be configured so that invited members are allows to invite others. Still other groups may be arranged that only allow organizers to invite new members. When you create a group or are made its organizer, you are given the capability of choosing these settings.

  ZeitBrite Message System

What is the ZeitBrite messaging system?
The ZeitBrite messaging system allows users to communicate with each other in a way that is integrated with the ZeitBrite system and is therefore less intrusive than email. The messaging system allows you associate a message with the sender's profile with a single click. The messaging system also notifies you of new messages through a compilation with all other ZeitBrite notifications. You can specify how often you receive notifications (Manage Notifications page). The notification default is once per week. and won't email you more often than once a week (or as you have specified on the.

How do I send a message to another ZeitBrite user?
There are two ways you are able to send a message to another ZeitBrite user. 1. You can send a message through the user's profile page:
   a. When you are viewing a user's profile page, locate the user's photo. On the right hand side of the page below that user's photo, there is a Message this user link. Click on this link to view the Send a new private message page.
   b. Fill in the Subject and Message body.
   c. Once the message is complete, you have the option to Preview or Submit the message.
2. You can send a message through the Search Profiles Result page:
   a. In ZeitBrite, on the left side menu, there is a search profiles box. Click on this link to view the Search Profiles Result page. Each profile will have a Message this user link on the right hand side. When you click on the Message this user link you will come to the Send a new private message page.
   b. Follow steps 2 and 3 above.

How do I check my messages?
You don't need to check for new messages -- you receive a notification whenever another user sends you a message. You may view older messages by cliicking the Messages link in the left navbar.

  ZeitBrite Commons

What is the ZeitBrite Commons?
The Commons is a general-purpose system designed to allow for collaborative exploration between ZeitBrite members. The Commons is a place where you can post ideas, requests or topics of interests to the ZeitBrite community. The system provides matching with other members who might be interested in you post or have common thematic interests (judging by common themes in your post and their account data) and notify them.

How do I create a Commons post?
From the ZeitBrite home page, click the Commons icon. In the Commons, you will be able to view a list of recent Commons posts as well as create a new post of your own.
